Caneel Bay - Turtle Bay Conference Room

Hotel Accommodations

Workshop attendees are responsible for making their own hotel reservations. As in other years, we have reserved blocks of rooms at two very beautiful locations in St. John, U.S. Virgin Islands. It would help us greatly with organization and planning if you made your reservation by October 28, 2016.

CANEEL BAY (www.caneelbay.com)

Caneel Bay is a beautiful, world-class resort and is the location of the workshop. A block of rooms has been reserved at the (significantly discounted) rate of $405 per night. Rates are subject to a room tax of 12.5% plus a daily service charge of 10%.

When we confirm your registration for the workshop, we'll send you a link that can be used to reserve rooms at Caneel.

(If needed, the telephone number for reservations is 340-776-6111. Or call toll free at 855-226-3358. Please mention the Kestrel Institute group rate.)

CINNAMON BAY CAMPGROUND (www.cinnamonbayresort.com)

The pristine Cinnamon Bay Campground, which is part of Virgin Islands National Park, is about 15 minutes from the Caneel Bay workshop site. Taxis are available to transport you to and from the workshop. Cottages are available at a rate of $81-$93 per night plus 12.5% tax for up to two people. There is a $20 charge for each additional person and a maximum of four guests per cottage. In previous years, some of the participants stayed at Cinnamon Bay Campground before and after the workshop and stayed at Caneel Bay during the workshop.

Please see the Cinnamon Bay website for details of amenities and services.

Please note: Cinnamon Bay Campground changed ownership this fall. If you made a reservation prior to September 27, 2016, you should re-confirm your booking to make sure it was transferred correctly. Reservations may be made by calling 669-999-8784. When calling, please refer to the cottages reserved by Kestrel Institute. Reservations may be made online starting November 1 at www.cinnamonbayresort.com.

Concordia Eco-Resort (www.concordiaeco-resort.com)

Another lodging option is Concordia Eco-Resort, which offers unique “eco tent cabins" as well as more traditional rooms. Rates are $135 to $245 per night plus tax. Concordia Eco-Resort is the sister resort of Maho Bay (which closed in 2013). The resort is located south of Coral Bay on the east side of the island, about a half hour drive from the meeting site. It is recommended that you only stay at Concordia if you are renting a vehicle, as taxi drivers are reluctant to take travelers to the far side of the island.
